Final Verdict

All in all a fantastic new addition to the area. Soon you will be coming here because of its reputation and word of mouth will spread as quick as #yuubringstheheat

I was invited to the launch of Yuu Kitchen Mayfair which has set up residency interlinking in with the Ice Bar London and wow what an exciting venue this is.

The Hashtag they use is #yuubringstheheat and it certainly does.

With sites already popular at Spitalfields and a residency in Kentish Town this is a brand that is known already. Ex Nobu chef Jon de Villas has delivered the flavours yet again at this South-East Asian Decor Inspired restaurant in Yuu Kitchen Mayfair.

Self describing Yuu Kitchen features authentic Japanese and South-East Asian flavours. This gastronomy concept, uses the highest quality produce executed with precision cooking in a fun and exciting setting. The menu is designed for sharing with a choice of small plates that will take you on an explosive flavour journey. Indulge in Asian favourites like gourmet Bao, Korean Ssam and Chicken Karaage.

The first thing that strikes you about this venue once you start walking in is the decor. Styled to remind us of a traditional Japanese/Hong Kong Style Street Restaurant no stone has been left unturned. From the plants and word styling at the entrance to the exposed brickwork and great big neon sign that shines bright as you head down the stairs. You truly do start Yuu‘re journey into this exciting new venue.

To the bottom of the stairs and a choice of left and right is yours. Go right and you walk into a large open space with tables to dine and drink at. Go left and you head towards the bars and the interlinking staircase to the Ice Bar Experience.

To start we were offered cocktails of which you can see pictured (below right) these were Smoking Geishas (east london liquor gin, ube-infused sugar syrup, lemon juice, prosecco) and although being a beer drinker found these to be delightful and refreshing. A bit of dry ice for effect and we were all licking our lips in anticipation. The restaurant offers a great choice of Cocktails, Wine on Tap and Bottle, Beer and Bubble Tea. For its location also reasonably priced and not out of line on what you would expect in here in the heart of London.

The artwork that adorns the walls has all been specially commissioned and with its style bringing the culture and an atmosphere that i have not seen in many restaurants across London. One of two standout pieces being a large coloured dragon spread the width of the wall and a feature wall that covers the entirety of a Private area where groups can sit and drink. The detail and quality of these images are brilliant and certainly bring the area to life with its colourful Dragon and traditional sketched samurai looking down over protecting you.

If by now the decor hadn’t wowed you then the food will. I was able to sample some of the menu and when you have a chef from Nobu in Jon De Villas and a restaurateur in Stephen Lowe the combined experience comes and shines just like that neon sign. This is high quality food brought to you at a sample of the price. My highlight was the cheesy cheeseburger spring rolls – 1.Because it was something i’d never seen and 2. they were just delicious. There are plenty of bites and selections to choose from for yourself or to share between friends, family and partners.

I will be coming back properly and try out more of the menu with some friends soon for sure so you also will have to come down and visit this place to try for yourself too. Take it from me – this will be top of your list as a go to venue for drinks and food. The reputation for quality and food is already there with the Yuu Brand and it wont take long for others to discover the tastes of the east based here in Yuu Kitchen Mayfair
